Junto a la Mezquita de Beyazit, la biblioteca se encuentra en la plaza de Beyazit, rodeado de historia literaria que incluye un antiguo bazar libro, así como una tienda de café que ha sido funcionamiento desde la época otomana. La ubicación de la biblioteca está muy arraigada en la historia de la ciudad.
La renovación implicó una reorganización del interior del edificio, así como una restauración de la estructura del edificio, con su prominente techo multi-abovedada.
En lugar del antiguo techo de concreto de la biblioteca, Tabanlioglu arquitectos instalado una estructura ligera y transparente que cubre el patio, filtrando la luz del día y demostrando un ambiente controlado.
«Nuestra inspiración ha sido la estructura de la cúpula, el patio, la luz difusa de los espacios interiores y las paredes de piedra de la 16 ª siglo. El proyecto también tiene el propósito de mostrar algo; es decir, la inmensa colección de libros. Nuestro objetivo ha sido diseñar para esta situación única y elegimos para estar libre de elementos innecesarios de «diseño» y se centró en el espacio en sí, más que en cualquier decoración o detalles que no son pertinentes a la herencia y la función «, dijo Gursel.

En la zona renovada del edificio, los arquitectos instalado cajas de vidrio negro que llevan los manuscritos y objetos destacan como monolíticas, contrastando sus alrededores.
