El diseño tiene éxito en invitar a vislumbrar hacia arriba, abajo, en galerías e incluso desde la calle. El gran atrio de entrada, la Corte Chen jacinto Gloria, separa el antiguo edificio histórico de la nueva, proporcionando una visión casi completa de las fachadas restauradas de los edificios históricos. La Corte Chen también sirve como un espacio de lugar de celebración de todo tipo de eventos públicos.
Inaugurado en junio de 2007, la extensión ofrece 100.000 pies cuadrados de nuevo espacio de exposición, una nueva entrada y el vestíbulo, una tienda de venta al por menor nivel de la calle y tres nuevos restaurantes. Studio Daniel Libeskind también renovó diez galerías en el edificio histórico existente como parte del proyecto.
